Former Real Madrid and Spain defender Alvaro Arbeloa has finally called time on his career.

The player made the revelations as he failed to get new employers after his release from Premier League side West Ham United at the end of the season. Arbeloa struggled at the Hammers, registering only three Premier League games. The 34-year old has had an illustrious career nonetheless.

The retired Spain international was part of the title winning team at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, after previously lifting the Euro 2008. The team would continue their dominance as they retained the Euro 2012. Arbeloa also has two Champions League medals and a La Liga medal as well. This is aside Copa del Rey, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Supercopa de Espana successes.

“It’s time to say goodbye. Physically, I was okay to keep playing,” the player said as he announced his retirement.

The player spent seven years at Estadio Santiago Berbabeu before he moved to West Ham. From 2006 to 2009, Arbeloa played nearly a hundred games for the Reds in the Premier League.
