There have been a lot of doubts regarding the ability of the nation to host this major event, which will put a lot of stress on the infrastructure of the country.

One of the main aspects of the infrastructure that will be tested to the limit will be the transport and the stadium facilities. However, Brazil have been lacking a lot in terms of development in this areas, which has led to those regarding the ability of the nation to host this major event.

The country will be preparing for this major tournament by hosting the Confederations Cup in the summer. The operations director of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Ricardo Trade, has said that he is extremely confident that the country will not only be able to host the World Cup, but also the Confederations Cup in the best manner possible. He has said that the committee is closely watching the progress of the work in the stadiums and also in the 12 host cities. Brazil have selected 12 cities across the country to host the World Cup.

"We are really in a good position, we are moving forward well - I am talking not only about the World Cup, but also the Confederations Cup next year. We are closely monitoring how work is progressing in the stadiums in the 12 [World Cup host] cities; and we are very confident about the work programme in these cities. We are also closely liaising with Fifa, as they are helping us to build these stadiums for the two events, and producing constant feedback and monitoring reports on progress so far," said Ricardo Trade.
