BRAZIL CLOSING IN ON QATAR 2022
Five-time world champions Brazil are on course to pick the first automatic spot from the CONMEBOL section ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar. The Brazilians will seal their place at next year's World Cup tournament with four points from their two qualifying games in November.
As things stand, Brazil have a six-point lead over Argentina in second place and a whooping 15-point lead over Uruguay in fifth position. The first four teams from the South American region will qualify automatically for Qatar 2022, while the fifth team will have to navigate the inter-confederation playoffs to get to the tournament.
Brazil have a toughWorld Cup 2022 qualifying schedule for this month with games against Colombia and arch rivals Argentina. They take on the Colombians at home in the first qualifying match next week Thursday before travelling to San Juan to take on hosts Argentina on Tuesday, November 16.
Four points from the games against Colombia and Argentina would be enough for Brazil to book their place at the World Cup 2022 tournament. The Brazilians have an almost perfect record in the qualifiers till date with ten wins and one draw from eleven (11) games. The only game they failed to win was the away game against Colombia which ended in a goalless draw.
Brazil are unbeaten in the qualifiers for the World Cup 2022 tournament on Qatari soil and they are not the only ones with an unbeaten record. Arch rivals Argentina also have an unbeaten record in the qualifiers though they have six points less than the Brazilians. The Argentines have 25 points from eleven (11) games after a record of seven wins and four draws. Brazil and Argentina would be hoping to maintain that unbeaten run when they take on Colombia and Uruguay respectively next week Thursday, before they face each other later in the month.
