SQUAD SET TO BE ANNOUNCED
The Nigerian football authorities have said that they will be making an announcement regarding the squad for the matches against Namibia and Malawi in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria will be taking on these two teams in the hope of making it into the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. It is expected that the match will see a return of a number of big names. Nigeria have disappointed fans a lot in the recent matches in major tournaments, but will be hoping for much better performance if they get to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The Nigerian national team manager Stephen Keshi has already said that players like John obi Mikel and John Utaka are likely to be present in the team. Both these players have been influential for Nigeria in the last five years, but they have not taken part in the national team matches for quite a while now.
Stephen Keshi revealed that he will be holding discussions with Chelsea star John obi Mikel for his participation in the match. It is likely that Stephen Keshi will have to name a squad without Mikel due to the exploits the Nigerian star has had in a long and tiring season with Chelsea.
Vincent Enyeama, Chigozie Agbim, and Austin Ejide are likely to be the goalkeepers for the national team in these two matches according to Stephen. Vincent Enyeama has not been able to feature regularly for French club Lille, but Stephen has said that it is not a problem for the national team because he believes in the quality of Vincent Enyeama. Nigeria will also be playing the 2013 African cup of nations qualifiers on June 17 against Rwanda. It is likely that most of the players from the World Cup qualifiers squad will be available.
