PROFESSIONALS
The Spanish national team manager Vicente del Bosque has said that he is extremely happy with the commitment and professionalism shown by his team in the recent match against Panama.
The world champions Spain were playing against Panama in a friendly match, in which they were expected to win quite comfortably. As expected, they managed a comfortable 5-1 win over the team, although the professionalism and commitment shown by the team made this victory quite easy in the end according to the Spanish manager. The former Real Madrid man saw his team score five goals before conceding the consolation through a penalty from Gabriel.
He has said that Panama are a team much better than their position and the image suggests. He has said that it would not have been possible for Spain to win this match comfortably had they taken the opponents lightly. Spain opened the scoring through Pedro after just 16 min before David Villa extended the advantage shortly afterwards. The Barcelona forward Pedro scored once more to give Spain a 3-0 lead at halftime. They managed to extend their lead even further in the second half through goals from Sergio Ramos and Susaeta. Vicente del Bosque has praised Panama by saying that they are in extremely good team, who are doing well in their respective regional qualifiers for the World Cup.
"We took the game seriously, showed commitment and did not concede chances while dominating possession. We controlled the play, and from there had the freedom to show our talent. We made the game easy for ourselves - Panama are doing well in their (World Cup 2014) qualifiers. They are well organised. They are better than they looked," said Vicente del Bosque after the match. As a result of this victory, Spain are now undefeated in the last 16 matches.
